Chapter 3 You’ve Spent Many Efforts To Marry Me
Brian looked at her quietly for a while before saying, "I don't remember taking anything from you." The Hawk family did not take anything from the Berg family during the betrothment.
Estelle scoffed and said, "Mr. Hawk, perhaps rich people forget the insignificant things. A month ago, in a presidential suite on the eight-floor of the Delight Hotel, you picked up my bracelet."
Lamar was keeping the documents and paused when he heard what Estelle said. He then turned to look at Estelle.
If it was not for Brian instructing him to investigate who had entered his suite that night, he did not even know that he had spent a night at the Delight Hotel.
Could it be a coincidence?
Brian's expression darkened and he started to grin, "Looks like you've spent a lot of effort just to be married to me."
"I'm sorry, I don't intend to be married to you. I'll give you my blessings when you get married. But now, please return the bracelet to me."
Estelle smiled and stretched out her hand towards him.
Brian looked at her coldly and said, "I threw away the bracelet, do I need to compensate you for it?"
Estelle thought about her previous life when he brought the bracelet to her. That bracelet was even nicer than what she lost. If it was not for her initials on the bracelet, she would not have believed that the bracelet was hers.
Now he said that he had thrown it away? Who was he trying to fool?
"The bracelet is not valuable but it is something that I buy for my eighteenth birthday after saving money for a long time. It has sentimental values. Mr. Hawk, did you say that you had thrown it away because you can't bear to part with it?"
Brian looked at her and then said, "Do I look like I'd bother?"
Estelle looked at him nonchalantly. Since she had reincarnated, then perhaps it was also possible that Brian threw it away.
Estelle then retracted her hand and then said, "It's just a bracelet. No need to compensate."
She then turned to leave.
Libby wanted to say something but since Estelle had left the office, there was nothing left for her to say. She quickly took her handbag and left.
…
Along the way home in the taxi, Libby said, "How could you agree to the cancellation just like that? At least the two families should get together to discuss this matter."
"Brian doesn't wish to marry me. Regardless of how his family forces him, he would also not agree to it." Estelle said this with reason. In her previous life, Brian did not marry her even upon her death.
Although what Estelle said was within reason, Libby was still dissatisfied and said, "Then at least he should compensate us. The Hawk family is so rich. We should get ten to twenty thousand dollars. At least it will help us out."
Estelle was stunned and looked at Libby, "Compensation? They should compensate if they owe us something. What do they owe us?"
Estelle had never raised her voice towards Libby. Libby was stunned and frowned.
"Essie, how could you speak to your mother like that? Would I become like this if not for giving birth to you and Ariel? Am I wrong to want some extra money for this family?"
Estelle glared at Libby. She could not understand how she could blame this on giving birth to her.
"Stop the car!"
The driver did not know what was happening and just stopped the car by the side of the road. Estelle opened the car door and got out. Libby was also angry and asked the driver to drive.
Estelle got down at a bridge that spanned over the Yord River.
She stood on the bridge and enjoyed the breeze. The comfortable breeze gradually eased her mood.
